Scouting Report

Tough as nails with good size as well as natural talent, the 6-foot, 190-pound senior at Steinert High School (NJ) in Mercer County is multi-faceted.

Playing for a defense which has yielded a shade under 100 points for a Spartan team which is 3-3, DiMeglio has been in on 40 tackles, which includes one sack, several QB pressures and a handful of pass break-ups. DiMeglio started the season at weak side linebacker, but now plays on the strong side because of injury.

All of his attributes can be seen on one of his video clips as he reads the QB's eyes, moves his feet and picks off a pass over the middle and outruns the defense 70 yards for a score. That is Anthony DiMeglio.

He also checks off boxes that are not judged on the field as he bench presses 235 pounds and squats 360, while running the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.5 seconds. And he’s no stranger to hard in the classroom either, maintaining a 3.8 grade point average.

Scouting report: "DiMeglio has everything you’re looking for in a linebacker. He has the vision when he drops back in pass coverage, he can move side to side and read the quarterback's eyes. He can also hit the gaps in order to get to the quarterback when rushing or in a blitz situation. And when he does hit the QB, he makes it known with hard, clean hits.''

“Anthony is also the ultimate team player,'' said Steinert's defensive coordinator Frank Gatto. "He never complains, he does everything we ask of him. He's playing two positions for us because of injury. We are playing very good defense as a team and Anthony does so many things well for us. He's a WE guy, not a ME guy.''
