Ava Wilmot, a highly accomplished track and field athlete from Manalapan, NJ, is still celebrating her signing with Rutgers University – as she should be. This achievement is the result of Wilmot’s tireless efforts and dedication to the sport throughout the years.

Wilmot is a talented athlete, known for her speed and endurance on the track. She competes in the 1600m, 3200m, and 2k steeplechase. In 2022, Wilmot was the champion in the 3200m for NJ Group 3 and placed 8th in the nation in the 2k steeplechase at the New Balance Nationals Outdoor at the University of Pennsylvania. While she loves competing in all three events, Wilmot said that the 2k steeplechase was her favorite. “It is such a diverse event, testing endurance over 1.25 miles and strength with 23 hurdles in the race – 4 of them being water jumps.”

In addition to her success on the track, Wilmot is also a leader among her peers, serving as captain for both the cross country AND track and field teams at Colts Neck High School for the past two years. Consistently demonstrating the highest level of sportsmanship, Ava has always represented Colts Neck with pride.

Demonstrating that hard work and dedication pays dividends, Ava will now have the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level for Rutgers University. She will join a talented team and will no doubt make a strong impact as a member of the Scarlet Knights.
