Scouting Report

Caden Lozito is just 14-years-old, but you can already tell that the outfielder/pitcher is going to be a star.

How can you project such a thing, when he is still young and growing? Look at his scout day numbers.

The Garden State Ducks and West Essex player recently posted some eye-popping numbers at a fall combine for the Ducks. He was in a group with players that were two years older in some cases, and Lozito had one of the best home-to-first times (4.1 seconds) and velocity numbers (78 mph.) from the mound. He also had THE best velo number from the outfield (78 mph.) at just 5-9, 140-pounds.

Think about what he is going to do over the next four years of high school and with the Ducks as he gets into the strength and conditioning programs.

He has already made a big impression in New Jersey, and he is just getting started.

Lozito backs up his work on the field in the classroom, where he has been one of the better students in his grade each year.

Here is a scouting report on Lozito.

“I was really impressed at how hard he throws, and also how well he plays the outfield. He can go in the gaps and track down anything. He also gets good reads on balls off the bat, showing that he has good instincts. He can bring it from the mound as well, and will be someone to watch over the next few years as he grows into his frame.

“At the plate, he has a smooth swing, and can get down the line. He is going to get his home to first time under four seconds soon, and that should mean increased extra-base hits as he starts to find the gaps.”

2022 Perfect Game New York Indoor Showcase Report:

Caden Lozito is a 2026 OF/RHP with a 5-7 125 lb. frame from Roseland, NJ who attends West Essex. Young and developing overall frame with good athletic build and a lot of time to add on. Primary position OF, working aggressively to the ball and fielding nicely out front. The glove work was a little spotty, but he is young. Came through and transitioned well, working over the top with his arm producing an impressive 83 mph peak velocity to the infield. Emerging accuracy and overall mechanics with present high end arm strength. RHH working from an even stance and fairly high handset. His path to the ball is direct and the swing is compact working on plane and creating natural loft. Hanging trigger to create timing and power, progressively hitting the ball with more consistency throughout his round of live BP. When on time and in the middle of the field, he showed strength at impact and excellent bat head awareness. Secondary position RHP, working from the stretch only, starting inline and staying there to foot strike. Does create a significant head snap to work arm to release point but can be cleaned up with time. Arm path is clean with medium depth and in-line with the body and gets down the mound very well. Once he develops more from an overall physicality standpoint, the ease of his delivery will increase, and he looks like a prospect long term on the bump. FB sat in the 73-76 range and backed that up with a quality CB 64-66 and a firm CH at 70 mph, both secondary pitches are developing in their overall presentation. There is a lot to look forward to with this young player and looks like he could be a two-way talent long term.
