Scouting Report

There is no getting around the fact… 2021 was a down year for the Holmdel football team.

The Hornets are usually one of the better teams in New Jersey’s Shore Conference, but they went just 3-6 last year.

Rising junior offensive lineman Casey Brew wants to make sure 2021 was just a blip, and not a trend, as he and his teammates try to get their Colonial Division title charge back on track. Brew has been working hard in the offseason and summer workout program, leading the charge in the weight room. He has seen his bench and squat numbers go up, and his 40 time go down, in preparation for opening day.

Off the field, Brew had a 3.7 GPA before his sophomore year grades settled, and that number should continue to improve over the next three semesters.

This is a pivotal season for Brew and Holmdel, and he is ready to make it happen. Here is a scouting report on the player from a Shore Conference coach:

“I talked to some Holmdel coaches, and they love his work ethic. He is a hard worker, and coaches value that sort of intangible. He is not the biggest player in the room, but he makes up for so much with his positive attitude and tenacity. He is still growing into his frame, and I think this is going to be a key season for Brew.

“I think he might be valuable for the Holmdel staff in some other positions this season. He is going to do whatever is needed to win games, and that is something that can’t be taught.”
