My name is Jonathan Rodriguez, class of 2024, shortstop. I am a rising Junior at Seton Hall Prep, West Orange, NJ. My collegiate goal is to play professional baseball. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me athletically as well as academically. I plan to major in Business Sport Management. I was fortunate enough to be part of 2022 Latin American Baseball Classic in the Dominican Republic with the USA team. I was honor to participate in this event, I was also awarded Most Valuable Hitter. Receiving this invitation and award has been the highlight on my baseball career. I learned the value of teamwork, commitment, sacrifice, and leadership. I feel I grew the most as a student-athlete this year, I had the honor to participated in different college showcases such as I-95 Metro, College Baseball Group, College Baseball top Prospect, Best in the US Showcase and also Dominican Baseball Camp. This experience alone helped me grow as a person and lead me to adjust my own efforts on becoming a best shortstop in the game and playing at the next level. I believe I have the talent to compete for a college team, character, work-ethic, and leadership skills to make an immediate impact on your program. Jonathan continues to show as a prospect with improvements in his baseball abilities. At SS, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. Throws are accurate with carry (83 mph velocity) across the diamond. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently.

Jonathan Rodriguez is a 2024 SS/MIF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Newark, NJ who attends Seton Hall Preparatory. Medium frame with slender, athletic build; ran 60-yard dash in 7.75 seconds. Hits from even-based stance with leg lift trigger, hands set tight with high back elbow, rotational lower half, smoothness to stroke with whole-field approach, will push hands at times, projects well with strength gains. Talented infielder, clean funnel out front with two hands, moves well laterally with balance and athleticism, quick release with accurate throws, projects well as a defender. Good student, named to 2022 Sunshine Northeast Top Prospect List.

All-State Tournament (HS) Jonathan is a starter SS who will graduate in 2024. Athletic build with some strength present and frame to add more strength. At SS, active/efficient feet and ability to create good fielding angles in all directions. Ability to pick out hops, while keeping eyes behind his glove, and fields the ball out front in low fielding position. Shows ability to throw from multiple arm slots with accurate/on-line throws across the diamond and an arm velocity of 83 mph. Showed good touch on his DP feeds. A right-handed hitter begins with an even stance. Smooth swing, with a short/square stride, and gets good extension through contact. Attacks pitches on the inner half and hits hard line drives to all fields. Reached base multiple times in live game action, including a triple, and had a bat exit velocity of 82mph. As he continues to mature and develop, we foresee Jonathan having a bright future on the baseball field."

BASEBALL FACTORY ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN TOURNAMENT - 12/10/2021

Jonathan is a 2024 SS prospect out of Newark, NJ who showcased his skills at the Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament. At SS, he showed ability to cut down distance on batted balls, with active feet, and get rid of the baseball. He fields from an athletic/low fielding position with hands out front and has low funnel. He throws from multiple arm slots and had an arm velocity up to 83mph. Jonathan made accurate and on-line throws with a quick release across the infield. At the plate, this right-handed hitter hits from an athletic and even stance with quickness to his hands. Smooth timing to swing as he hits into a firm frontside with center balance at contact. A level swing with a fast bat through the hitting zone. A short/direct barrel path enables him to hit line drives consistently with a bat exit velocity up to 72mph. In live games, he reached base 4 times with a double and 3 base on balls. With 2 years of continued growth and development, we see him having a bright future on the baseball field.
