Scouting Report

When you play for the Hun School as a lineman under Head Coach Todd Smith, there is a pretty good chance you are going to pick up at least a few Division 1 offers.

Class of 2023 offensive guard/tackle Zachary Aamland has more than a few D1 offers, with many of them coming from Power Five institutions.

Here is that list:

Coastal Carolina University
West Virginia University
Rutgers University
Maryland University
Vanderbilt University
Boston College
Temple University
Syracuse University
Duke University
Marshall University
University of Illinois
University of Louisville
University of Massachusetts
University of Connecticut
Kent State University
University of Pittsburgh
University of Kentucky

It just comes with the package when you play for Smith, if you continue to put in the hard work on and off the field. Aamland has been a shining example of what can happen if a student-athlete grinds during his high school years.

Aamland, who is now 6-6 and 290 pounds, is one of the most athletic linemen you will ever see on the fields of Mercer County. Smith has a long list of successful linemen playing all over America, and Aamland will be another. He gets 225 for 15 on the bench and squats 450. He is a punishing lineman and one of the reasons the Raiders were unbeaten in 2021, finishing the season as the top-ranked prep program in the nation.

In the classroom, Aamland should see his 3.3 GPA rise when the final semester grades are posted for his junior year.

Here is a scouting report on the big lineman:

“Zachary is such a specimen on the field: he looks like a man among boys in many games. There have been some talented players on this roster, and some highly ranked recruits, and Aamland has shined brightly even with the others on the field. He is a beast. Zach is so strong and does a good job in both the passing and running game. He is just so strong. Imagine what he is going to be like with another year in Smith’s system and another year in the weight room. He will be dominant.”
